About Us
Established in 1997, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois is a bipartisan, nonprofit, anti-crime organization led by more than 300 sheriffs, police chiefs, state's attorneys, other law enforcement leaders, and violence survivors. It is part of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, a national nonprofit organization representing over 5,000 law enforcement leaders and violence survivors, headquartered in Washington, DC with additional state offices in California, Maine, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Washington.
Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois' mission is to take a hard-nosed look at the research to find what really works to keep kids from becoming criminals and then share information about proven crime-prevention strategies with policymakers, the media and the public.
Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois evaluates crime prevention strategies, informs the public, media and policymakers about those findings, and urges investment in programs proven effective by research. Our website is organized to focus attention on those strategies, including high-quality preschool and early care and education programs for young children, prevention of child abuse and neglect, after-school programs for children and teens, and interventions to get troubled kids back on track. We do not fund or operate any direct service programs for children.
As a nonprofit organization, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois is supported by tax-deductible contributions from foundations, individuals and corporations and receives no government funds.
