OPENING: Membership Associate / State Operations

Organization: Fight Crime: Invest in Kids is a nonprofit organization made up of over 5,000 law enforcement leaders and victims of violence from across the country who believe that the key to preventing crime is investing in programs proven to keep kids on the right track (www.fightcrime.org). We are seeking an engaging and motivated organizer to conduct member recruitment and mobilization at Fight Crime: Invest in Kids.

Fight Crime: Invest in Kids is affiliated with the Council for a Strong America, the parent organization of four bi-partisan sibling organizations - Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Mission: Readiness, America's Edge, and Shepherding the Next Generation - all working toward the common goal of increased investments in children and families. Our members are "unexpected messengers" who are extraordinarily effective at reaching policy-makers to help win major victories for kids. Together with allies, we work to ensure that every child has access to proven programs that help them get the right start in life: early education, childhood nutrition, family support, and other programs that help at-risk children.

Position Summary: The membership associate plays a key role in recruiting and mobilizing law enforcement leaders in key states across the country in support of increased state and federal investments in programs that help kids get the right start in life. Rather than working directly with legislators or the executive branch, the Associate will activate and support our law enforcement and crime victim members to educate key decision-makers about the importance of investments in kids.

Membership Associates, with the guidance of the Membership Director, are responsible for:

· Devising master plans for assigned states in accordance with federal or state policy objectives;
· Enlisting new law enforcement leaders to join Fight Crime: Invest in Kids;
· Activating our members to weigh in on state and/or federal policy issues;
· Educating our members and prospective members about the link between investments in kids and crime reduction;

Requirements:

* Commitment to making sure all kids get a good start in life;
* Experience working in a membership-orientated organization;
* Successful track record of recruiting or mobilizing individuals (2-4 years experience) to support a cause;
* Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience making presentations in varied settings;
* Ability and willingness to travel;
* Outgoing personality and ability to meet people and connect with them;
* Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and timelines.

Desirable, but not required: An understanding of the legislative process; familiarity with policies affecting children and youth; familiarity with the law enforcement and/or crime victim communities.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits.

To Apply: To apply, please send a completed questionnaire, resume, and cover letter to:
